Expert Reply:

With 5th wheel landing gear the two legs are usually referred to as the lead and follow legs. We offer complete replacement legs and also repair kits for both types.

The size and tooth count for gears included in these repair kits, such as Stromberg Carlson kit # LG-146059, varies by brand, weight rating and for lead versus follow leg applications. This particular kit is for the lead leg in either a Venture # LG-1 or Stromberg Carlson # LG-183708 landing gear set. We also have replacement gear boxes and gear kits, shown on the linked page.

Trailer makers rarely keep track of the brand and model of landing gear sets they install as OEM equipment so you will want to check for branding and part number information on your jack. In some cases parts for one brand of jack leg will work on others since some makers sell their jacks to other companies for sale under their own branding.

You may be able to get some help from Forest River if you contact them with your trailer VIN.
