is there a difference between the hopkins 47053 and 47054? i can't see one.

Both the Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47053 and the Hopkins # HM47054 referenced in your question feature the same 8 foot long, coiled adapter cord that will connect the 7-Way on your RV to the 6-Way round connector on the tow vehicle. The only difference between the two parts is that # HM47054 also includes a 6-Way socket with mounting bracket that you can mount to the vehicle.
