Will this carrier be able to carry a tire that is about 85 pounds? Do it come with out the bend in the shaft?

I spoke with my contact at CURT Manufacturing about hitch mounted spare tire carrier # C31006, and he stated that it will hold your 85lb spare, provided that the trailer hitch itself is also capable of supporting the combined weight of the spare and the carrier.

Basically, the weight capacity of the carrier is whatever the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch is.

Hey Sam, we recommend 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts and nuts for securing your wheel to the Curt spare carrier part #C31006. I wish we sold them but since we do not you'd need to check with a local hardware store.
