Question:
How do I take the slack out of a tow bar hook up at the receiver? Connection seems sloppy.

What you need is an anti-rattle device like part # 63232. What this does is install in the hollow ball mount shank you have and pulls the ball mount to the hitch to remove the sloppiness. Also this has a lock built into it which makes a theft deterrent as well.
As long as you have a 2 inch hitch and your ball mount has a hollow shank this would work well for you. If you have a different setup email me back with it and I'll see what would work best.
