Recommendation to Reduce Chucking with New Husky Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:
Just had Husky 16K slider installed on 2014 RAM 2500 Cumming 6.7. Its chucking all over the place. Hate that. Is there anything we can do to lessen this? Just installed two days ago at dealer suggestion. Didnt know it would chuck like this. Used to haul fifth wheel. Your thoughts? Cant replace with new hitch. Havent paid for current one yet.

Generally speaking, the best way to reduce the chucking you are experiencing is going to start with the 5th-wheel hitch itself. If your Husky Slider uses a slide-bar jaw to hold the king pin in place, it will certainly secure it enough to prevent it from coming loose, but not tightly enough to prevent chucking. Upgrading to a hitch that features a dual or single piece jaw will offer the best improvement with trailer chucking. Since this is not an option for you, there are a couple other possible solutions that can help.
Installing an air-ride in box can also help to improve the ride quality when towing. These upgraded pin boxes are designed to replace the existing pin box on the trailer, so you will need to locate the manufacturer and model number on your current pin box. I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of air ride pin boxes. You can filter through the pin boxes they are designed to replace by using the facets on the left side of the page.
Lastly, I simply recommend making sure that your trailer is properly loaded. A trailer's tongue weight should be around 10 to 15 percent of its total loaded weight. If the tongue weight is too light, it can potentially lead to some chucking issues. If you find this to be the case, simply redistribute some of the trailer's cargo to put some more weight up front.
