Video Transcript for Breaking Down the Replacement Cover for Demco Tabless Base Plates

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Demco replacement covers for tabless base plates. So these covers, you know, really not a whole lot to 'em. But there is a couple of big reasons that people like to use 'em and I can definitely understand why. One of the big ones being how it's gonna make the front of your car look. So on this side of her base plate we've got the cover installed and over here it's open.

And I mean, you can't really argue the fact that you would probably want it to look like that as opposed to an open hole. It just looks better, you know, it does. So goes a long way there, honestly. And for number two, they're gonna help keep your base plate opening just a little more protected. You know, these aren't 100% watertight or nothing like that.

But they do a decent job of keeping 'em sealed up, you know, probably prevent good amount of moisture from getting inside of there, not to mention just road grime and things like that too. One thing that really kind of sticks out in my mind is during the wintertime, you know, a lot of people probably aren't gonna be flat towing as much as they'd like to be, you know due to the inclement weather. And as you know, salt, just chews everything up. And so I feel like these will go long way driving in the wintertime on snow covered roads. That way salt and stuff isn't getting up in there and just chewing everything up.

So having a little cover on this can really make life a lot easier for you. You know, if it starts getting corroded and you know, clogged up in here, it's gonna make it difficult to get your ends in and turn and hook up and have that smooth flat towing experience. So I believe most of the base plates are gonna come with these covers but I could see how they'd be really easy to lose when you go to hook up to it, you know thinking about 10 different other things you might just set these up somewhere hook up, down the road you go and you forget about 'em. I could definitely see how that could happen and I could see it happen at once. And then you get a replacement set and go, okay I need to figure something out, throw 'em in my pocket put 'em in the cup holder, whatever that way you make sure you don't lose 'em again or it seems like a lot of people too, just grabbing extra set just to have a backup for when it does happen you don't have to go through the trouble of picking 'em up again.

With that said, you know, these are gonna fit the Demco tabless base plate kits and they're also gonna fit the etrailer.com tabless base plate kit. They share a very similar design. And so that's what these are gonna work with. They're actually pretty stout. I mean, they're pretty thick plastic. They actually feel like they're relatively well built. And the way these are gonna work is these bumps there, they're gonna catch the holes in the base plate. And so you can pop that in, rotate it. You'll feel it kind of click into place and that's what's gonna happen. So a little loose, but I mean, they're not coming out unless you take 'em out, you know, you're not gonna go down the road and hit a bump and these things fall out. And the way you can get 'em out is you can actually rotate 'em out a quarter turn. And that makes 'em really easy to pop out. Same way when they're going back in. I do wanna mention if you're someone who just wants to leave your removable arms in, it looks like they actually offer a cover too that kind of snaps in place here and covers all this up. You know, I'm not too crazy about it but to each their own, you know, that's just my opinion. I think I would rather just take those out and leave these on. I think it looks a little bit cleaner and reduces the risk of damaging this as well. But other than that, you know that's really all there is to it. You know, a direct replacement that's gonna help keep your base plate a little more protected. And honestly, the big thing for me is, you know, make the appearance of the front of your vehicle. Look just a little bit better..
