Question:
I have a 2017 Chevy 3500 duramax ltz with the factory brake controller. I hate the factory controller. I want to put in a tekonsha voyager brake controller. How can I do this. My local trailer dealer had no problem with my 2014 truck but the 2017 he couldn’t find the wires to hook it up.

On your 2017 Chevy 3500 Duramax ltz, you can absolutely connect your Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3016. This adapter plugs into the 4-pin connector in your vehicle's junction box. The box is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, just above the carpeting.
Because you have the integrated controller you will need to bypass it by cutting the blue wire on the # 3016 harness and splicing a new wire into it to run to the rear to your 7-way connecter. Measure the harness's blue wire about 4 to 6 inches from the brake controller. Cut the wire and using # 10-1-1, sold by the foot, and # DW05745-5 connect the wire to the brake controller harness. At the 7-way, find the blue wire and cut the blue wire going into the connecter. This wire will be in the 5 o'clock position as you face the bumper and your trailer connector.
