I may have a solution for you, however we do not currently have a backup alert bulb available that will work on your 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Based on my research, your truck uses a 921 bulb for the backup lights. The backup alert lights from Hopkins, such as # HM20101VA, are not compatible to replace this particular bulb number.
I recommend instead looking at the Custer Surface Mount Back-Up Alarm # BK97DB. This backup alarm will simply wire into your Tacoma's reverse light circuit and can be mounted to the location of your choice. It will produce a 97 decibel alarm when activated.
I have attached a demonstration video on this product so you can see exactly how it works.
