Updated 10/03/2025 | Published 10/02/2025

Question:

I have a BMW i5 M60 that Id like to put a hitch on to transport out ebikes. But for the life of me, I cant find anything that fits. Do yall know if the EcoHitch for the i4 will work? Thank you!

Hello Ceci, thanks for reaching out. Sadly, we do not offer a trailer hitch for the BMW i5. None of our manufacturers (Curt, Draw-Tite, EcoHitch, Stealth Hitch, Tow Smart ect...) make anything for that vehicle. Probably because it is an electric sedan and really not intended for towing/hauling.

We do have trunk mounted bike racks that would work, but these are not rated for e bikes.

Have you checked with a dealership to see if they offer an OEM hitch? If not, I am sorry to say there is not going to be a good way to carry heavy e-bikes with this vehicle.

Thanks for the reply. That's the conclusion I came to also. I reached out to Stealth and they seemed interested in my bringing my car to Atlanta for them to work on developing one, but when it got down to figuring out the days to bring my car in, they ghosted me. So far, after 3 more attempts to contact them, there has been no further replies. My guess is that they decided there wasn't enough of a market to bother working on a hitch for the i5, but they just opted to not tell me that. You are right that the trunk mounts are a no go for 60 pound ebikes. I know that Europe has a hitch for the car, but it's got a light duty ball already attached and no actual receiver. I'm dead ended in the US. Word of warning to other potential i5 owners. It's a faboo car, but you won't be transporting ebikes with it!

@CeciL Well if you could get the EU hitch with the ball you could get a light duty trailer to transport the bikes on but that is really the only thing I can think of and I know it might not be practical or cost effective. I don't know if using a different vehicle is on the table, but that would be the best bet. Feel free to reach out if you ever need anything else!
