Question:
I have an enclosed triton PR 14 aluminum trailer looking to install a redline two way pop up vent on the sides. I have a finished interior and a small space between the outside aluminum skin. Do I need to place a wooden support between the pieces or will the aluminum support the vent?

Expert Reply:
The Redline 2-Way Pop-Up Roof Vent with Garnish for Enclosed Trailers - Steel # 9106-2756 is a lightweight vent that many will just attach to the outside skin. Based on the fact you have a finished interior and have space between the outside skin, I recommend using the wooden support to give you the extra strength to ensure it will hold up well over time. I recommend using the TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant - 10.1-Fl-Oz Cartridge - White # 0160297 along with the Zinc Sheet Metal Screw - 8 x 3/4" Indented Hex Washer Head - Hex Slotted Drive # 31071 or Wood Screw - 8 x 3/4" Slotted Round Head # 30587.
