In order to see if there is an 8 or 6 lug replacement hub and drum assembly that will fit the axle on your trailer, you will want to first pull the existing hub. Once the hub is pulled, check for the bearing numbers that should be stamped onto the bearings themselves. If you cannot locate these numbers, you can also measure the spindle at various locations where the bearings sit. I have attached an image that shows where these measurements should be taken. I recommend using a digital caliper like # PTW80157, as the measurements will need to be exact.
Once you locate the bearing numbers that are compatible with your trailer spindle, you should also take note of your axle capacity to ensure you choose properly rated hub/drum assemblies.
For example, the etrailer.com Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K is designed for 7,000 pound axles and uses the # 25580 inner bearing and # 14125A outer bearing. It features an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
Keep in mind that finding compatible replacement parts for mobile home axles can often be difficult. Mobile home parts are usually designed for one time use applications, so replacement parts are simply not available for a lot of mobile home axles. If you cannot find compatible replacement parts, your best option may be to replace the mobile home axle with a typical trailer axle.
I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of trailer hub and drum assemblies. You can use the bearing numbers and axle capacity facets on the left side of the page to filter through the options. I have also attached a couple articles on trailer bearings and wheels that you might find helpful.
