Question:
I have a 2000, F150, Styleside without factory installed coupler. In 2012 I installed a Curt # C24VV Triflex Controller, #57672 Duplex Adapter and #51322 Adapter Harness. All worked well at the time. Currently I have 2 problems. 1 The LED display on the controller is illuminated all the time key on or off and shows a single dot with only the bottom half of a letter displayed. 2 When I use the 4 way plug my left signal faintly blinks both rear trailer lights and same effect when I use the right signal. No brake lights at trailer key on or off. Running lights work ok at trailer. All above lights work on tow vehicle. Any suggestions?

I spoke with my contact at Curt about the display that you are seeing on your Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV and he recommended resetting the controller itself. To do this you will simply unplug it for about 30-40 seconds and then plug it back in.
He said you might also want to check the Red wire from the connector while the brake controller is unplugged to see if there is any signal when the brake pedal in your 200 Ford F-150 is NOT being pressed. If there is a signal then something is going on with your Stop Light Switch and it will need to be replaced. If there is no signal then everything is good to go.
As for the Duplex Adapter 57672 that you mentioned (which is almost identical to part # C57674 on our site) I recommend unplugging it and testing the 4-Way that it is connected to with a Circuit Tester # PTW2992. The Green wire will be Right Turn/Stop, the Yellow wire will be Left Turn/Stop, the White will be Ground, and the Brown will be Tail/Marker.
If you are getting a strong signal to all of the functions of that first 4-Way connector then you will need to replace the adapter. I recommend using part # C57674 that I previously mentioned. If you are not getting a strong signal to all of the functions then you will want to check the wiring on your F-150 for a short. Look for any places where the wiring is bent, corroded, exposed, or damaged in any way. You can replace any sections with Bonded 4-Wire # 16-4B-1 and Butt Connectors # DW05744-10.
If that doesn't fix your problem just let me know and I can help you to continue to troubleshoot.
