Question:

I am confused. I cant use the MaxxTow anti-rattle clamp MT70258 while towing a boat? What could I use? Thanks.

While we do have anti-rattle devices that are designed for use when towing, the MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp, as you mentioned, cannot be used for this purpose. This particular device can only be used for non-trailer loads such as bike racks and cargo carriers.

For an anti-rattle device that you can use while towing your boat trailer, I recommend the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061. This hitch immobilizer will eliminate rattle within the receiver with a simple bolt-on installation. You will just slide the unit over the shank of your ball mount and hook the U-bolt around the collar of your hitch receiver. Please note that this device is only designed for hitch receivers that have a ring or collar around it.

If your hitch receiver does not have a collar, I recommend using the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 if your ball mount has a hollow shank. These will both provide great anti-rattle features along with a lock to help deter theft.
