How Can I Get Better Rock Protection From My Rock Tamers?

I have Rock Tamers on my 2020 Toyota Tundra. Bought them thinking they would protect my boat and trailer on gravel roads. First trip and I have chips all over the trailer. Is there some way to adjust them? I was looking at adding the screen in between the flaps.

Hello Randall,
Thanks for writing in.
I am sorry to hear you ended up with chips on your trailer after that first trip. You will want to make sure your Rock Tamers # ERT00108 are adjusted with the boat and trailer hooked up to your Tundra. Rock Tamers recommends having the bottom of the flaps about 3" to 4" off the ground. You can rotate the support arms to adjust the height and also adjust the width to get the best coverage behind your tires.
I see you have since added the Rock Screen # RT37FR, and that is exactly what I would recommend for the gravel roads you are traveling. It fills the open area between the two Rock Tamers flaps to help catch rocks and debris that can otherwise make it through the center. You also picked up the Fender Guard Mud Flaps # 337B1237PPB, which will give you even more protection from debris being thrown toward your boat and trailer.
It sounds like you are getting your setup ready for some serious backroad boat adventures! Where are you headed with the boat?

Randall, I had the same issue initially. I called into Rock Tamers for help. He had me rotate the flaps so they tip outward towards the trailer. It doesn't seem like it makes sense but it made all the difference. Now no more rocks getting thrown at the trailer.

Thanks Kate for confirming my choices. We have a dozen or so small lakes around here. Most are only accessible by gravel road. A lot of the busy lakes here get pressured making it difficult to find and catch walleye.
