Do Reese Spring Bars Fit a Valley Weight Distribution Head

Updated 04/28/2011 | Published 04/26/2011

Question:

Will these replacement bars fit a WDH head that is made by Valley? It seems the other difference is in the point where the spring pin that holds the bar intot he head. The Valley has a groove part way around the bar and the Reese has it all the way around. No idea if the diameter of the bar or the position of the groove is the same. The reson I ask is I want dual cam reese setup and would prefer to not also buy a new DDH assembly if I only need to replace the bars the get the crooked end on it that is used in the dual cam setup. Thanks.

The Valley head and Reese spring bars are not compatible. We also do not recommend mixing manufacturers as it will make the capacities unknown and the products have not been tested together.

For an 800 pound Reese Dual-Cam Sway Control Weight Distribution System, the most economical is the Strait-Line System, # RP66073. You could use the same shank as your Valley system provided the mounting holes are 1-1/4 inches apart on center but I would go with shank # RP54970 to keep all the parts the same. You would then just need a properly sized ball, like # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter) or # A-90 (2 inch diameter).

I have included a link to the installation details for this system for you to view.
