The Replacement Mounting Hardware # TH05603 is 4 inches on center. If this is what your X-cargo XL 90040 roof box has, then it will be a fit without modification.
Another option is the hardware kit # TH04997 that is also 4 inches on center.
If your mounting holes are not 4 inches on center, you may need to consider drilling new holes. If this is the case, then I recommend using a sealant on your old holes like the Loctite RTV 598 High-Performance Silicone Gasket Maker - Black - 2.7-Fl Oz Tube # LT37467 to keep water out of your cargo box.
