Question:
Hi. I have a 2014 Tundra and the factory installed 2inch receiver is very close to the bumper. I tow a 7k Jayco trailer trailer and wanted to know if there was a 2inch receiver extention that I could install to give me enough room to lower my tailgate while hooked to the travel trailer ? Thank you

We have a couple different options available that will help to extend the trailer hitch on your 2014 Toyota Tundra when towing your Jayco Travel Trailer.
I first recommend looking at a ball mount that uses a longer shank, such as the Curt Ball Mount # D-26. This ball mount is 12-5/8 inches long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball hole. You can take a quick measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole on your truck to see if this will provide enough clearance to open the tailgate. You will also want to make sure the 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop on this ball mount is sufficient to tow your trailer level.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this ball mount along with a link that will take you to our available selection of ball mounts with longer shanks.
Another option is to use a hitch extender like the Curt # C45795 along with your existing ball mount. This will give you a distance of 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the pin hole on the adapter. The only issue with using an adapter like this one, as opposed to a longer ball mount, is that it will reduce the capacity of your trailer hitch by 50%. When using an adapter, you will need to stay under the hitch's reduced capacity.
I have also attached a link that will take you to our available selection of hitch extenders that you can look through.
