Converting Karavan Trailer Incandescent Taillights to LEDs

Updated 08/07/2017 | Published 08/04/2017

Question:

Hello, I have an old Karavan 10-ft trailer bought new in 2002. I would like to convert the old-style square incandescent taillights to LED versions. The existing taillights match very strongly the ST2RB and 3RB taillights. From all I can gather from your website, the TLL160RK would be a good replacement. Can you verify that for me? Ive included a picture of the drivers-side light for reference. My second questions is this: I have read that there could be some issues with conversion to LED taillights and retaining the incandescent side-marker running lights. Can you advise on this also? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide! Trailer: Karavan KU 3000 76 10 142-inch

One way to add LED lighting to your Karavan trailer is to replace the entire light assembly, and we do carry replacement LED-type lights for many applications. The linked page displays all of our complete rectangular light units with LED operation.

Another way to go is to check whether there is an LED replacement for the incandescent bulbs in your existing lights. We have LED replacements for many popular bulb types. The other linked page will allow you to click on your existing bulb number, say the popular 194 type for example, to see the LED replacements.

Some vehicle wiring systems and aftermarket wiring harnesses can have trouble with LED lights but in most instances there will be no issue replacing the power-hungry incandescent bulbs with high-efficiency cool-running LEDs.
