Is a cover available for the mounting stem of the hitch? I would like to store the balls in the glove compartment. So some type of cover to keep the rest dry and not rusting would be nice.

We do have a cover for certain interchangeable ball sets. It is Convert-a-Ball Cover for Interchangeable Shank Item # 005B. It is designed to fit Convert-A-Ball systems though. So what I recommend is to use Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set - 1-7/8", 2" Balls - 3/4" XL Shank - Nickel Item # 800B. I have linked a video review for you.
