For your 2017 Chevy Express 2500 without any trailer wiring, I recommend we start with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118392. This will connect to the factory wiring found behind the interior trim panels on either side of your rear cargo area. This will give us a 4-way. Then we will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This kit will include the wiring, connectors, circuit breakers and bracket we need to wire a 7-way for trailer brakes.
Then we just need a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional controller so your trailer brakes will be applied with the same amount of pressure and at the same time you hit your brakes in your Express Van. The LCD screen on this controller gives you the ability to know what is going on without needing to decipher any codes. It is simple and easy to use with 3 levels of preset boost and constant diagnostics to make you aware of any issues.
This will give you a complete system and you will be ready to go.
