Recommendation to Extend Hitch Receiver Past Camper Shell for Bike Rack

Question:

Im looking for a 2inch receiver that tote can into the receiver and can be locked. Do you have something like that? I need an extension on the receiver so my bike rack sits away from my camper shell. I need the extension to tighten and I need to be able to lock it so someone can't steal the extension along with my bike rack and bikes. Is there a way to lock this?

For a hitch extender to use with your bike rack, I recommend looking at the Curt Hitch Extender # # C45791. This will work with any 2 inch trailer hitch receiver and will provide an additional 8 inches of length from your existing hitch.

Keep in mind that when using this or any other hitch adapter, the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50%. This means that if your hitch has a 800 pound tongue weight capacity, it will be reduced to 400 pounds when using the adapter.

You can then use or etraile.com Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 to secure the adapter to your hitch and help deter theft. This is a very nice hitch lock that features a double-chrome plated construction for maximum rust resistance. Please note that this lock will work with hitch receivers that have an outside width of less than 2-5/8 inches. If you happen to have a wider hitch receiver, you will just need # e98881 instead.
