Question:

I have a 2017 Rav4 Hybrid XLE. Will the Curt Class II C12108 fit my vehicle AND the Curt 2 Platform Rack C18085? And will that Bike Rack carry two ebikes batteries will be taken off for the drive to make them less than 40 lbs each? One ebike is a step through. ALSO: is there a local installer Needham MA you recommend and I can trust with the hitch install?

The Curt hitch # C12108 is a fit for your 2017 RAV4. This is a Class ll trailer hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. One note of caution is per Curt all non-trailer items used in the hitch require a stabilizing strap like part # 18050. This can really be a hassle because the strap needs to be attached to the vehicle and it can be tough finding a place to attach it.

I recommend going with the Class lll hitch # e98864. This hitch has a high capacity, and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. There are a lot more items available that will work with this hitch, and you do not have to worry about using the stabilizer strap as with the Curt hitch.

The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack # C18085 will work with the 1-1/4 inch # C12108 hitch, or the Class lll hitch # e98864. The adjustable hooks on the center mast should be able to work with the step-through bike you have but you may want an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier.

You will want to make sure the bikes weigh less than 45 lbs each and that the tires are no wider than 3 inches.

We do not have a list of installers across the country but if you have a trusted mechanic nearby, they will have no problem with the trailer hitch installation.
