Question:
Hello, I recently bought an old equipment trailer with tandem axles on it and i want to replace them. The axles that are on the trailer now are the old dayton moble home axles. The rear axle had electric brakes at one time and but some one completly took the brake assembly apart and everything inside is rusted solid. I would like to replace both axles with modern style hubs and electric brakes but im having a hard time finding axles that have the right length and spring spacing. The length of the axle is 90inch from hub face to hub face. The spring center spacing is 76.

The dimensions you gave are not standard dimensions, so I recommend you go with an axle-less system. You can use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RS545E or the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - 4" Drop Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RD545E. This system makes the leaf spring suspension void by using an integrated suspension.
These assemblies are really nice and can be used in Tandem Axle applications. I've attached a video to assist. These assemblies come with EZ Lube spindles for easy maintenance. These bolt directly to your frame and if no cross brace is present at the location of your axle, you can simply use a 2x2 inch square tube that fits into the integrated slots on the assemblies to give them the support they need to function. You will need to obtain that square tube locally.
It doesn't get much easier than these assemblies and they are great quality. They will give you your tandem axles and your updated trailer brakes as well as updated suspension.
