Recommended ST205/75R14 Trailer Tire with Higher Speed Rating

Question:

I am looking for a higher speed rated trailer tire then the Goodyear Marathon brand I have had in the past. Tire size is ST 205/75R14 I found the Goodyear Endurance brand rated at 87 MPH with an 8 ply load rating, and the Hankook Optimo H724 with a load index of 95 and speed rating at 112 no I would never drive that fast!. What do you recommend?

I recommend taking a look at the Taskmaster ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # TR20514. This is a great radial tire with a maximum load of 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. It has an excellent maximum speed of 81 mph and a 6 ply rating and also includes a 2-year limited warranty.

Based on my research, the Optimo tire you referenced with the extremely high speed rating is actually a vehicle tire and not designed for use on trailers.

Always keep in mind that the best way to extend the life of your trailer tires is to always have them inflated to the maximum psi and remain under their combined load capacity with the weight of your trailer.
