Question:
looking to buy this trailer,, its weight is: Unloaded Vehicle Wt UVW 6,850 lbs. Hitch Weight 810 lbs. I have equalizer 1000 pounds WD, we will use it for short trips in the Midwest and will not load it with liquids and to the max capacity weight, until we get the newer Durango SRT coming out later this year. Do you think it will be OK to pull it with My Durnago R/T 5.7 l HEMI, we will be traveling family of 4, 2 adult and 2 little kids. Thank you

Expert Reply:
If you have a 1,000 lb tongue weight Equalizer like part # EQ37100ET and your trailer has a tongue weight of 810 lbs this would be an ideal setup.
Now realistically your tongue weight is going to be a bit more once the trailer is loaded so swapping to 1,200 lb spring bars like part # EQ90-01-1299 would be the best overall solution.

I have a single axel 20ft long travel trailer. I have added two 6volt batteries to the front and a stromberg tongue mounted cargo carrier. The original dry tongue weight before the additions, water , propane, and supplies was 410lbs. Would a 10000lbs or 12000lbs EQUILIZER hitch be overkill or about right?

For clarification. If I already have the 1000lbs equilizer hitch, am I able to increase to 1200lbs by only swapping out the spring bars? or would I need to buy a new head as well?
