Video Transcript for Replacement Head for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems Review

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this replacement head for Equal-i-zer weight distribution systems. Now, this replacement weight distribution head fits Equal-i-zer systems rated at 12,000 pounds gross towing weight and 1,200 pounds tongue weight. The mounting hardware, the washers, and spacer rivet are sold separately but you can find them under the related products section on this product page. This is made in the USA from a steel construction and it's going to feature a black powder coat finish to help resist rust and corrosion.

And as you can see, it has the connection points for the end of your spring bar, and you line up the holes, and secure in place with a pin and clip. It has the ball, the hole rather, for your ball. And that is going to have a diameter of an inch and a quarter. And this unit does come with a new set bolt right there, which applies pressure to the weight distribution's shank. And then the shank is going to sit here and this is where your hardware would insert, and the space rivet, and the flat washers.

Now, because this replacement is from Equal-i-zer, you can have the confidence that it's going to fit your Equal-i-zer systems rated at 12,000 pounds gross towing weight and 1,200 pounds tongue weight. And that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

I needed another head for a different vehicle and the price was very reasonable. It arrived in a very timely manner.

The unit was not for the faint of heart. The tolerances were very tight and didn't initially fit. The bars did not seat completely into the sockets. The hitch had to be taken apart the bars inserted and then the bolts reinstalled. In order to get the bars to move in the hitch I had to grind on the hitch faces. I suspect 25K miles will loosen things up. All in all it worked OK. Arrived in good shape and on time.

You mentioned you had to do some grinding to get the bars to fit. I just had a few questions about that. Since this is a replacement head for an Equalizer weight distribution hitch, were the bars Equalizer bars? And how much did you have to grind away to get the bars to correctly?

The hitch head I replaced was an Equalizer twelve K and the bars slid into the receptacles. The problem the bar would contact the vertical bolt about a fourth an inch short of the attachment bolt. I had to take the vertical bolt out slide the bar all the way in and secure it. Then install the vertical bolt. Then everything worked. The reason I had to grind on the bar receptacle was so I could move it. It was so tight I had to beat on it to get it to move. More of a polish and paint remover than a hard grind. I am currently on the road with the camper and by the time I get back Ill have about five hundred miles on it and then I can take another look So far it is working good but I havent taken the bar out of reccptical yet. Im going to wait until I get back.

A little hang up with UPS, but etrailer was all over it and got it to me quick Thanks!

by:

I noticed after my last outing with my toy hauler, that my hitch head was cracked. My local RV dealer could not guarantee delivery of the parts in time for my next trip. I contacted etrailer.com, and was told that yes, I would have my parts in time. My parts were delivered on time, and with a significant cost savings over my local dealer.
I will be ordering brake parts from etrailer.com soon.
Thank you for great service!

by:

Already had the 10k version.
Works great,
but the Dunbar dealer undersized me-had to get the next one up.
etrailer rocks!

Great-finally. Unethical dealer sold me the wrong weight class hitch. After discovery I replaced with the correct weight class. It took 5 men, three boys and a hydraulic press and a 10# sledge to get the sockets out. Double that to get them back in. When torqued to spec I, could not even move the sockets with the sway bar. I he’d to back completely off the torque, put the bars in place with the help of two friends and then re torque I went to an empty parking lot, rig in tow and did figure 8s for two hours. I still had to but my fat a.. on the deck on push the bars into place. Have quite a few miles on it now and is still rather tight-but manageable. Yes, I would highly recommend this hitch regardless

by:

The product I purchased was exactly what I wanted the only thing I would say is that the weight of the items were put in one box which ended up being pretty torn up and a struggle for the ups driver to remove from truck. Order should have been in 2 separate boxes or packaged so they would not move around.

by:

Replacement head is every bit as good as the original. Fit perfectly and we are good as new again.

by:

I have the 1000/10000 pound version of this unit and am trying out this heavier version to use with my new pickup.
etrailer was prompt and had the best overall prices on my order.

by:

Shipping was super quick and well packa ged

by:

The hitch I replaced was over 14 years old. This was a great deal when purchased.

by:

Everything was excellent including communications about part out of stock and they followed up and kept me notified at all times. Thanks again !!!!

by:

This particular order went very well, however I subsequently placed another order on June 17th. When I checked on the order I noticed that while it was "in stock" it wouldn't be shipped until a week later. The previous order went so well that I was very disappointed that this order would take so long to ship.

by:

Excellent communication! I did not receive one set of bolts I ordered however with the great customer service issue is already in the works to be resolved.

by:

What I needed at the best price around. Needed a 2nd head for alternate tow vehicle. Free shipping was a bonus. Arrived one day before it was supposed to (another bonus). Great service all around.

by:

Received on time and in good condition. Jazmine was very helpful. One of my go to stores from now on.

by:

As usual great price, top brands and beat the delivery deadline, thanks for the focus on customer service!

by:

  • Correct Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System for Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2614BS
The Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2614BS has a hitch weight of 800 lbs dry so you'll likely be near or past 1,000 lbs while loaded which makes the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37100ET on the edge of what it's rated for as you said. If I were you, I'd probably upgrade to a higher capacity but you don't need a new entire system for this, just the parts below: Replacement Head part # EQ90-02-1200 Replacement Spring Bars part # EQ90-01-1299

  • Are There Benefits to Upgrading to Higher-Rated Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System
If your trailer has a tongue weight of around 700 pounds then your existing 10,000/1,000 pound Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET should be sufficient. Upgrading to a 12,000/1,200 system won't provide any additional benefits to your current setup and would only be a good option if you plan to at some point move to a heavier trailer. As it stands right now your 700 pound tongue weight falls right in the middle of your system's 600 to 1,000 pound range, which is ideal. The...

  • Do 1,200 lbs Equal-i-zer Spring Bars Fit in a 1,400 lbs Equal-i-zer Head?
I have a solution for you but the spring bars are a slightly different size, so in order to go from 1,400 lbs spring bars to the 1,200 lbs Spring Bars for Equal-i-zer item # EQ90-01-1299 you would also need to get a new head unit. You will want the 1,200 lb Replacement Head for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems item # EQ90-02-1200.

The 10K and 12K Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems like part # EQ37100ET and part # EQ37120ET use different heads and spring bars so if you wish to switch back between the two capacities you will need both of these items which I have listed for you below.
