What size tire do I need to replace E78-14 trailer tires?

Expert Reply:
The modern replacement for an E78-14 trailer tire are tires sized 205/75-14. The Karrier Radial Trailer Tire, # AM10234, fits 14-inch wheels, has a load rating of C and a maximum load capacity of 1,760 lbs at 50 psi. If you want a tire with a D load rating for heavier loads, there is another Karrier Radial available, # AM10235.
Should you be looking to upgrade your wheels as well, you could go for a wheel and tire option such as the Provider ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire & White Wheel, # TA82MR. Keep in mind that you will need the correct bolt pattern to match your wheels. The available pattern for a tire and wheel combo in the size you need will be 5 on 4-1/2 inches.
I have added links to a couple of articles on tires which you may find useful.
