Question:
Hello, I recently purchased a home built water trailer and I cannot determine what type of axles it has. It came with 3 hubs that have a 6 lug on 5 1/2 spacing and one hub that is a bolt on 5 bolt pattern. I am wanting to change out the 5 bolt to a 6 lug 5 1/2 spacing hub. A side note, I recently purchased 6 lug rims from you I acquired an older 6 lug hub but it is too small and does not fit on the axle so I am concerned about ordering online. I have attached pics. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

To figure out what size hub your are going to need for this axle we are going to need the wheel bearing numbers off the axle you are wanting to change the hub. The numbers can tell us size the spindle on the axle and tell us what the weight capacity of the axle.
If by chance the bearing numbers are missing or worn off, then the attached picture will show you what measurements are needed to find the correct bearings. The inside diameter (I.D.) of both inner and outer wheel bearings or the corresponding area where there bearings on the spindle will be the measurement needed.
Once you have the bearing numbers or measurements, check out the attached link. It shows all the 6 on 5-1/2 hubs that we carry for trailer axles.
With that said, the hub that you referenced # AKIHUB-655-35-K, if it turns out to fit your spindle, will work well on your trailer's axle. I recommend using the LubriMatic Wheel Bearing Grease, # L11465, grease gun(if needed) # L30200, and the LubriMatic Deluxe Bearing Packer, # L70025 at the time of installation.
