Hey Patrick, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the Replacement Front Jack Leg #LC362485 should work for your 2021 Open Range 314RLS with the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 system. Since your weld stop “bump outs” measure 17-1/2" apart, that matches the spacing on this replacement leg, which is exactly what you want to verify before ordering.

Based on your description of the passenger-side jack moving freely while the motor still runs, it definitely sounds like the inner leg or screw assembly has failed internally, which is a pretty common symptom. This replacement leg is designed specifically for Ground Control 3.0 systems, so it should bolt right back into your existing setup without needing to replace the motor or upper assembly if those parts are still functioning properly.

That is basically what happened to mine. I replaced it with Jack leg #LC362485. It was relatively easy to install. Leave it hatchet to the truck remove the two bolts disconnect the motor wires and slide out.

I was told my front right jack was bent by Camping World. They wanted $1700 for parts and labor. I bought mine from etrailer and replaced it myself. Took me less than an hour. The hardest part was removing the bolt s that held it in place. had to cut them to remove them. When I put it back togeather I just reversed the way the bolts went in. You might want to remove it before buying a new one, just to see what has failed. It could be fixable. Mine was not bent, just out of sync, so now I have a spare jack.

@PaulW Oh wow $1,700 seems a bit steep for something that only takes an hour to install. Glad to hear you were able to get yours fixed though. Nice work! Thanks for sharing!

My 5th wheel has 2 of these jacks controlling the front end lift. One failed internally and the motor was no longer strong enough to move it, resulting in an over-amp of the motor and auto shut down. It was the internal bearing. The new one installed in about an hour (2 beers). I did it with my son-in-law (4 beers total) and had a great time. Works awesome now. The install is so easy it does not require complete sobriety, nor many tools. Well worth the money and even the failed one lasted 8 years, so im not even mad about it. Replaced both while we were at it. Super smooth now. Happy camping!

@RobertH Thanks for the great review, Robert! I think we all appreciate the new official unit of installation time: one hour, two beers, or four beers if the son-in-law is helping. Glad to hear the new jack got you back up and running smoothly, and honestly, getting 8 years out of the original one is a pretty solid run. Sounds like replacing both at the same time was the right call, and now you can get back to camping instead of listening to that overworked motor complain. Happy camping!

We have the Lippert 3.0 on our Alliance 5th Wheel. After 2+ years, the front jacks began to shudder when we were getting close to the top 1/3 of the extension. Motors were fine, but you could hear the "strain" as they tried to extend. Tech's said it was our the battery in our rig, and that we needed to stay plugged into shore power. That was not the case. I ordered 2 new legs and found them very easy to replace. There are lot's of You Tube videos. The problem is that these legs cannot be lubricated when they are on your rig. It was a simple lack of lubrication that was causing them to fail. The new legs work great...with or without shore power. I then took the old legs, removed the internal screw jack, lubricated them, and have them in the garage "in case of emergency". Etrailer's service, video's and delivery were terrific. Would definitely order from them again.

@BobC Thanks for the great review, Bob! I think you probably saved a few people from chasing battery, charger, and shore power issues that weren't actually the problem. It's especially helpful to hear that the motors were still fine and the issue ended up being inside the jack legs themselves. Glad the replacement went smoothly, and I love the idea of rebuilding the old legs and keeping them on the shelf as emergency spares. I really appreciate the kind words about our videos, service, and shipping too. Happy camping!
