Are Two Wires Required to Install the Clear Utility Light # 507-12 on a Trailer
Updated 03/09/2011 | Published 03/08/2011 >
Question:
I just received this light. There is only one black wire coming from the light. Should there be two wires, or is the one black wire correct? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
No, there should only be one wire coming out of the Clear Utility Light, item # 507-12. There is another wire inside that light, see photo at right, that is attached to the mounting hardware for grounding the light. This requires that the light be mounted to a surface that is a good ground.
If your mounting location does not provide a sufficient ground you can use a jumper wire to ground the mounting hardware to a good ground on the trailer or vehicle.
