Can I Upgrade One Axle At A Time From 3500 To 7000 lb Capacity?

Question:

I have a camper with two 3500 lb axels. I want to upgrade to 7000lb axels. Will it cause me issues if I only upgrade 1 axel for now?

I don't recommend upgrading one axle at a time. The capacity differences are substantial, and you will be limited to the weakest component. So the axle, the springs, the equalizer, the brake assemblies, and the hub/drum assemblies would all need to be accounted for. This axle capacity upgrade will require different brake assemblies, different hub assemblies, different suspension and different wheels based on the bolt pattern needed for this 7,000 lb capacity. There can be all kinds of issues even with using different wheels on a tandem axle system, so I recommend against changing them one at a time.

We only carry one system for 7K axles and it is a really nice axle-less system that includes the suspension. When you are ready to upgrade both axles, I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # TASR7KS01.
