Can Trailer Wiring Harness Power Wire Be Connected To 12V Circuit In Rear Cargo Area Of 2017 Escape
Updated 09/09/2020 | Published 05/14/2017 >
Question:
Hello. Ive been reviewing your wiring harnesses for a 2017 Ford Escape. The Harnesses you sell have instructions to run a power wire to the battery, and connect there after a fuse. But the Escape has provisions for a trailer fuse in the luggage compartment fuse panel. Is there some way to connect to that since the power is already there? Thanks!

When installing a trailer wiring harness like part # C56320 on your 2017 Escape, the Black power wire needs to be run to the positive battery post. A lot of folks want to use a circuit near the back of the vehicle instead of running the wire all the way to the battery.
We recommend installing it as per the installation instructions. If you connect to a different circuit, you would not be aware if a fuse blew or if something happened to the circuit, which would mean you have no lights on your trailer. This could prove to be dangerous.
