Question:
I am looking at the Swagman Chinook 2 Carrier. Everything I see shows the bike being secured by the crossbar. I have a womans bike that doesnt have a cross bar. Will it/how does it work without a crossbar?

I have a perfect solution for you.
The Swagman Chinook 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64683 referenced in your question is a platform style rack, which by design is usually more compatible with woman's bikes that have an alternative frame. However, if your bike has a step through frame with a sharp downward curve or angle, then you will just need to use a bike adapter bar like the Swagman # 64005. This will clamp around your bike's seat post and handlebar's stem post to create a horizontal bar and mounting point for a bike rack. This type of product was designed specifically for bikes like yours and it provides a great, secure and easy solution.
The Swagman Chinook 2 is a great platform-style carrier that will transport 2 bikes of up to 45 pounds each. It features sliding cradles that can easily adjusted with hand knobs to accommodate bikes of different lengths. My favorite thing about this rack is its ability to be tilted away from the vehicle, with the bikes still loaded, for easy cargo access.
