Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2014 VW Jetta SEL
Published 04/06/2017 >
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 Jetta SEL. I want to buy a hitch mounted bike rack from Thule that requires 6.5 inches of clearance. Will this hitch work? What about the Curt? From the pictures, they seem pretty much the same.

For your 2014 VW Jetta SEL, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11474.
The # C11474 measures 6-inches from center of hitch pin measurement to the farthest edge of the bumper. With this in mind, you will be able to use a Thule bike rack that has 6.5 iinches of clearance and you'll have 1/2 an inch to spare.
You will also need the stabililzer strap # 18050 which is required by Curt then carrying unsupported loads like the bike rack on the # C11474.
