Grease Seal Availability for Trailer Hub with Outer Diameter of 3.0 inches

Updated 03/23/2017 | Published 03/22/2017

Question:

I have an older 1950 trailer. I just had the bearings packed, probably for the first time in very many years. He didnt have and couldnt at least quickly find the correct bearing seals. They say Nationalinch and 5970. My calipers say O.D. 3.0, thickness .382-.385. Inside radius is a fibrous material, almost like carpet, with ID about 1.75. If you can find some, Ill pay a premium for them.

Closest seal we have is the part # 29031 which has an outer diameter of 3.0 inches and inner diameter of 1.875 inches.

What I would recommend you do is measure the spindle diameter where the seal rides. That's going to be a more consistent and easy measurement to get exact. If the diameter is right at 1.875 then the seal would work. If the diameter is 1.75 then the seal would be too big.
