Trailer Brakes Not Working After Two Tire Blowouts
Updated 03/23/2017 | Published 03/22/2017 >
Question:
I had two blowouts on the same side of my travel trailer and the next day my brakes stopped working and my controller reads no continuity. At the trailer light cord I have tested for continuity and everything checks out all the lights work no visible damage to any wires on the truck or trailer. I even tried changing out the brake controller to no avail.

It's possible that the brake assemblies themselves on your travel travel have been damaged. The overheating that most likely caused the two tire blowouts could have also damaged the brake magnets, which would lead to the brake controller reading no continuity (and having the same issue with a different controller).
Since all the wiring and connections for the brake controller look good, I recommend removing the hub and drum assemblies on your trailer and checking for wear/damage to the brake magnets. You may simply need to replace the magnets.
If you find that you need new brake magnets, I have attached a link to our selection for you to look for and find compatible magnets for your trailer brake assemblies.
I have also attached a couple of videos that demonstrate removing a trailer hub and also installing new brake magnets, if needed.
