For your 2005 Infinity FX35 with a 4-way connector, you will need to get a brake controller and wiring to make a 7-way function correctly. I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This kit will give you all the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers you need to make your 4-way into a 7-way connector. I've attached a video to help.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that will allow your trailer to brake with the same amount of pressure and at the same time as you hit the brake pedal in your Infinity. This controller is really easy to read and understand with its LCD screen. There is no code deciphering with this brake controller. You will get all the info you need at a quick glance. It also is customizable to driver preferences and has 3 levels of boost.
If you don't already have a ball mount for this trailer, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10037B. This will allow you to tow different trailers level and has 2 hitch ball size options of 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch. It has a nice stowable feature when not in use to save your shins when loading and unloading cargo as well as giving your vehicle a nice clean look.
