Question:
just purchased a used 8.5X22 enclosed V nose trailer- with a very short tongue. Pulling with a 2012 ram crew long bed 3500 4x4 single wheel stock height etc. I have to buy a hitch or longer shank ball mount any way and its looking like i will need a WD hitch. there is a small rod/plate welded to the outside of the trailer frame. useing the trailer to move from Texas to Maine and then to haul ATVs 32-3500lbs plus other gear and equipment thrown in. because of the really short tongue can you recommend a WD hitch that would work for me? trailer GVW is 10,000 and im guessing empty weight is 3,600 but have not weighed it yet.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Curt offers their Short-Arm Weight Distribution System # C17332 that is rated for trailer tongue weight in the range of 1000-lbs. This system's spring bars are 2-1/4-inches shorter, at 28-3/8-inches, than most other bars and so they can be the best option when there is limited space at the trailer tongue. All you need to add is a hitch ball, either 2-inch # A-90 or 2-5/16-inch # 19286.
If your trailer nose blocks access to the side of the trailer frame where the spring bar brackets need to mount you could substitute the Curt bolt-on hanger brackets # C17005.
When your trailer is empty you can simply reduce the chain tension by changing the link position on the bolt-on bracket.
