Your two 47-lb kayaks' combined weight is near 100-lbs and this may be approaching the limit for your Subaru Outback's roof. I suggest checking your owner's manual (or with your local dealership) to confirm how much weight the car's roof can safely handle. Naturally, this limit cannot be exceeded.

If you do find your kayak load is very close to the car's limit you can save on some weight by using a foam block type carrier like the Malone Deluxe # MPG152. Foam block kayak carriers offer the advantages of low cost and light weight and they do not require you to have a roof rack installed on the vehicle. They are, however, not as stable as the J-style carriers like the Yakima JayLow # Y04073 that mounts to a roof rack. If your travel distance/speed is moderate these carriers may be your best option, but if you will be driving whole days on the interstate at 70-mph then you will want to install a roof rack and rack-mount carrier to better support the kayak load.

If you do prefer to use a roof rack and rack-mount carriers then you can use the linked page for roof racks to select the type of roof on your Outback, either flush-mount rails or raised rails, to then see the roof racks we offer. Thule offers a multi-kayak carrier, the Stacker # TH830, which can hold up to 4 kayaks.
