Question:
will the CRV need a transmission cooler system with the hitch on it? I have an 8x12 box trailer that holds 8 kayaks about 50lbs each, so I am a little worried about going over the max tow capacity. If I cant pull that, I guess getting the 2inch receiver would give me more options to pull other stuff. I am also worried about the profile. Is there anything that is concealed, or is this the best fit? Looks like factory hitches only come in 1.5 inch? hide a little better, but I dont know if there are any tricks to that.

I did some research and found in the owner's manual for your 2017 CR-V, you can tow up to 1,500-lbs. As long as your trailer and kayaks do not exceed this weight capacity you should be fine when towing, but a transmission cooler is never a bad idea.
I have attached a link to the transmission coolers we offer you can check out. I also attached a helpful article about coolers you can take a look at. You want to make sure you have enough space to install a cooler on your CR-V. The ideal place to install a cooler is between the grille and your AC condenser core. I recommend a cooler like part # D13502. This is a plate-fin Class lll cooler that measures 11-inches wide x 7-1/4 inches tall x 7/8 inch deep.
When deciding on a trailer hitch for any vehicle I always recommend going with a 2-inch hitch versus the 1-1/4 inch hitches because they are more versatile and have a lot more options for hitch products.
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2017 CR-V is the Draw-Tite, part # 76128. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. While it is not fully concealed, it does have a round tube design that does make it a bit more attractive.
Since you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
If you need a trailer wiring harness I recommend part # 118741.
