Question:

I have a 2016 RAM 1500 with the round and flat connector. I do not have factory brale controller. I want to install one. Ive seen so forums saying I would have to take my truck to the dealer to activate my brakes. Is this true??

To install a brake controller in your 2016 Ram 1500 will not require you to take the truck to a dealer. All you need is the correct install harness part # 3024-P and a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

For your year truck there were a lot of rumors around about installing a brake controller which we are sure where they all came from, but you only need the harness and the controller.
