Question:

Is the Draw-Tite trailer hitch and Curt hitch pretty much the same product for the 2008 Toyota Highlander? Can you comment on either to help in my decision? Thank very much.

Both the Curt Trailer Hitch, # 13534, and the Draw-Tite Hitch, # 75726 for a 2008 Toyota Highlander will install in very much the same way. I have included installation instructions for both hitches below for comparison. I have also included video links showing installation of each hitch.

Although the Draw-Tite model has a higher capacity at 7500 lbs towing and 750 lbs tongue weight, you will still be limited by the vehicle manufacturers stated towing capacity, which is a maximum of 5000 lbs. Both hitches are Class III hitches with 2 inch receivers. Both hitches will take the same amount of estimated install time.

The Curt hitch cannot be used with a weight distribution system, but the Draw-Tite model is weight distribution compatible. Unless you were planning on using a weight distribution system, you could choose the less expensive Curt hitch and not feel that you sacrificed anything.

Neither the Curt nor Draw-Tite hitch comes with the wiring harness, a ball mount, pin and clip, or a ball. For trailer wiring, you will need Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118449. I have included a link to the installation details and a video installation of this harness below. The recommended ball mount is # C45010, and you can use ball # 19260 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19247 (2 inch diameter). For a pin and clip you can use # PC3.
