Will Pewag Servo RS Tire Chains Fit on 2013 Ford Explorer with P245/60R18 Sized Tires

Published 12/08/2016

Question:

I have a 2013 All Wheel Drive Ford Explorer, tire size P245/60 R18. The User Manual states to use cable not chains. Best I can determine is because chains can chip aluminum wheels. I will be using chains only on occasion but want a good pair that is easy to install and self tighten. Would you recommend this pair of chains or would you recommend cables?

The Pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # PWRS80 will fit the P245/60R18 sized tires on your 2013 Ford Explorer. I can't recommend you go against what your owner's manual states about cables, however if you decide to use chains these are a good choice because they're Class S compatible. This means there is a minimum of 1.46 inches of clearance on the top of the tire and 0.59 inches between the sidewall and the vehicle.

If you would like to go with a set of cables I would get the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains # PW2029C. These are very popular and have been a very reliable product. They're a completely manual adjust cable so if you include the rubber adjusters # PW105 it will make it much easier to fit them onto your Escape.
