B&W 5th Wheel Will Not SIt Flat in the Bed of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
Published 11/18/2016 >
Question:
I had a discussion with Jarod this morning and tried to lower the hitch platform by loosening the bolts on the side plates. But this did not work because the front and rear cross members are contacting the frame rails on the truck. Any other ideas what I could try.

If the underbed gooseneck hitch will not move to change the hitch height, then you will have to alter the plastic feet on the 5th wheel that rest on the bed of the truck.
The crown or rise in the bed of the newer GM trucks is not same across the board on every model. With this in mind, B&W advises to use a 6 foot level to find exactly where the crown in the bed is on your truck. At that point you will need to grind on the plastic rail under the 5th wheel's where it rests on the bed of the truck. You will need to grind on the plastic rail that is touching the bed. Grind a little at a time then reinstall until the hitch is sitting flat on the bed of the truck.
Due to the variance in the crown on these GM trucks, there is no one solution to get the 5th wheel to sit flat in the bed.
