How Do I Connect Trailer Wiring With Wire Colors That Do Not Match and 5 Wires To 4-Way?

Question:
My new plug 4 flat has a white ground, brown, yellow, and green wire. The old trailer wire 4 flat has a green, green/brown, yellow/brown, yellow, and white. Which wires splice together?

Expert Reply:
Your trailer's 4-way wiring is what they call a wishbone harness. They basically split the running lights to run it down either side of the trailer without running a jump wire across.
To splice into your new 4-way, you will connect this way.
Green to Green
White to White
Yellow to Yellow
And then you will put both green/brown and yellow/brown to Brown. This will be a 2 to 1 connection.
