Can ST145R12 Tires Fit Rims On Teske Trailer With 4.80-12 Tires

Question:

I have a Teske Trailer, used to haul an UTV. It has the Carlisle 4.80 - 12 bias ply tires on it. I do pull it cross-country, once a year, and both tires usually fail, in the trip or a couple of weeks thereafter. I would like to upgrade to a radial tire in hopes of improving durability and reducing sway. If I went with a radial in the 12 inch size - such as a ST145R12, do I need a new rim or can I use the rims I have? They are the standard, white, 5 on 4-1/2 rims. Thanks,

The radial tire I recommend for your trailer is the Kenda Karrier S-Trail Radial Trailer Tire, part # AM10130.

This tire will work just fine on the wheel you have for your 4.80/12 tire right now. This is a Load Range D tire with an 8-ply rating and has a maximum load rating of 1,220-lbs at 65 psi. This is designed to fit 12 x 4-inch rims.
