Question:

Does this tow bar fold up for storage while still connected to the front of the towed vehicle? I will be installing a Roadmaster EZ Base Plate on a 2009 Malibu. Thanks

I contacted our representative at Roadmaster and he confirmed that the RoadMaster StowMaster Car-Mounted Tow Bar, part # RM-501, will fold up while still mounted to the front of your 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. Part # RM-501 will work great with the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, part # 523145-5.

In addition to a tow bar and base plate kit, you will also need safety cables and wiring for lights or towing lights.

For safety cables, I recommend RoadMaster 68 Inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643.

For lighting, you can wire your 2009 Chevrolet Malibu using Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154. The other option would be to use Magnetic Towing Light Kit, part # RM-2120, which are lights that attach to your vehicle using magnets. If you are going to be towing your Malibu often I would recommend using part # RM-154 as you would just plug in your vehicle after the initial install.
