Question:

I have a 2009 Subaru Forester. I am looking at purchasing a 1996 Rockwood 1620 pop up tent camper with a dry weight of about 975 lbs. What would be the best hitch for me to purchase so that I can tow the camper? Thanks for your time and help.

I suggest the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75650. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a tongue weight of 600 lbs. and a gross towing weight of 4,000 lbs. It has the highest weight capacity of all the hitches available for your 2009 Subaru Forester. You'll want to verify the towing capacity of your car too before towing because the hitch will not increase the vehicle's capacity. Your towing capacity will be limited by which ever piece of the towing setup is the lowest. I've attached a video of the installation.

A great ball mount and hitch ball combo is the Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit includes the 2 ball mounts with different rise and drops, 1-7/8 and 2 inch hitch balls, as well as a hitch pin and clip.

The wiring harness that is compatible with your Forester is # 118467. I have also included this installation video.
