Question:

We just replaced our 2007 Lexus GX 470 with a 2016 Lexus GX 460. On the 2007 model, we had a Curt Class 3 trailer hitch installed and have loved that brand. We realize that we can now purchase a trailer hitch for this 2016 model and install it ourselves. Is it correct that the earlier hitch will not fit this new car? Will the Ball mount, pin and clip we have been using with our current Curt hitch still fit the new Curt hitch? Are they standard to fit other brand hitches, too? BTW, our bicycle carrier should work with any 2inch hitch brand, correct?

Yes, you are unfortunately correct that the hitch you had installed on your 2007 Lexus GX 470 will not fit on the new 2016 Lexus GX 460. Hitches for these two vehicles are quite different in how they are designed and where they bolt on to the vehicles' frames, and you can see this easily by comparing the hitches for each car that are shown on the linked pages.

For the 2016 GX 460 the hitch I suggest is the Draw-Tite # 75685. It offers the same 500-lb tongue weight (TW) capacity as the alternative Curt hitch but costs less. Installation hardware is included and the instructions are linked for you. Your existing 2-inch Class III ball mount and 2-inch bike rack will fit in this new hitch.

If you choose to sell your old hitch do please note that the old hardware cannot be re-used by the new user. Hitch hardware is one-time-use only so we offer complete replacement hardware kits.
