Can a Bent Landing Gear Jack Leg be Straightened
Updated 08/08/2016 | Published 08/06/2016 >
Question:
My left front landing gear jack is bent and is binding when lowering or raising the unit, it will not retract all the way. This is a 2012 Sandpiper 5th wheel, model RL340. Can the landing gear tubes be safely be straightened?

Expert Reply:
No, it is not recommended to try to straighten a bent jack tube. That would put more stress on the steel and there could also be internal damage that is unseen from the outside. I recommend replacing the damaged leg to avoid all potential issues related to a bent leg. I have included a link to the replacement legs that we carry.
